Where is the helm and the hauberk,

The days have gone down in the West
behind the hills into shadow.

from the Sea returning?

i sjajna kosa što se vijori?
Gde je ruka na žici,
i crvena vatra što gori?
Gde je proleće i žetva
i visoki kukuruz što raste?
Prošli su kao kiša u planini,

Dani su zašli na Zapadu
iza vrhova u senku.
Ko će sakupiti dim

And I thought that was best.
To the beeches of Neldoreth I came in the Autumn.
Ah! the gold and the red and the sighing of leaves
in the Autumn in Taur-na-Neldor!

To the pine-trees upon the highlands of Dorthonion
I climbed in the Winter.

Dolinama Tasarinana hodao sam u Proleće.
Ah! taj izgled i taj miris Proleća u Nan-Tasarionu!
I rekao sam to je dobro.
Lutao sam u Leto šumama Osirianda.
Ah! ta svetlost i ta muzika Leta kraj Sedam Reka Osira!
I mislio sam to je najbolje.
Obalama Neldoreta stigao sam u Jesen.
Ah! to zlato i crvenilo i to uzdisanje lišća Jeseni u Taur-na-Neldoru!
Bilo je to više od moje želje.
Borovima na visovima Dortoniona popeo sam se u Zimu.
Ah! taj vetar i ta belina i te crne grane Zime na Orod-na-Tonu!
Moj glas se podigao i pevao na nebu.
A sada te zemlje leže pod talasom,
I ja hodam u Ambaroni, u Tauremorni, u Aldalomeu,
U svojoj sopstvenoj zemlji, zemlji Fangorna,
Gde su koreni duboki,
A godine leže gušće nego listovi
U Tauremornalomeu.
